As part of our mission to provide vital resources to our fellow disabled neighbors, we are extremely excited to announce our Period Equity Initiative - which will allow us to begin offering period products at our community resource giveaway events free of charge! Disabled women and people with cycles often find these vital supplies are making it harder to stretch their dollars, with an estimated increase of at least 40% since 2020. (Neelakandan) Add in increasing costs for groceries, fuel, electricity, pet food, and the pink tax - everything is just more expensive, and it creates barriers where there should be none.
So here at CU Able we have excitedly received our first grant, and we have funding to sustain this program for the next few months! Our first order was great to have at our last giveaway event. We are very excited to work on expanding this initiative.
We are very grateful to our member Colleen who secured our first dedicated grant for our Period Equity Initiative, and we’d like to thank Thrivnet for their support (they funded the grant)! This is a passion project for the board, and we would love your support as we expand this initiative. To donate, please visit https://www.cuable.org/donate-page-1.
