Create Awareness.Promote Acceptance.Embrace Love.

CU Able is a welcoming group where caregivers to individuals with disabilities can seek advice and support, share resources, network, and find friendship.

WHO WE ARE

This passionate 501(c)3 organization works to create a safe and accepting support network for families with children with disabilities.  We are located in Champaign County, Illinois.

The group focuses not only on advocacy, education and awareness, but also encourages its members to incorporate self-care into their routine by organizing and participating in local events such as mom’s retreats, family dinners, community events and CU Able Parent Network Meetings.

“Disability is natural. We must stop believing that disabilities keep a person from doing something. Because that’s not true . . . Having a disability doesn’t stop me from doing anything.”

Benjamin Snow, Grade 8, in his essay “Attitudes About People with Disabilities”

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Connecting with others who care deeply for children with needs...We don't have to feel alone in our plights , when we share our circumstances and see how policies create our encumbrances!! You help us change our own outcomes, because we know someone else's solutions. We Love Our Children..policies and procedures, and regulations should not make us feel in bondage and fear...instead, here, we find solutions together... and not feel as alone.

CU Able is a wonderful resource, with up to date information, supportive and encouraging staff and a real understanding of how to support us where we our with our families on this journey of life with challenges

It's a wonderful networking tool for us as parents. I don't choose to spend time attending many support group type meetings as it's another time constraint that pulls me away from my family, but a quick note / Q/A / recommendation is stellar at any time of the night or day. Other families often have thoughtful and useful advise. So... this is my parent networking / support group!
